Post Doc Scholar William Ratoff Beginning July 2019

The Cognitive Science program is pleased to announce that William Ratoff will be joining as a Postdoctoral scholar starting August 1, 2019. Ratoff received his BA in philosophy from the University of Cambridge in 2013 and expects to receive his PhD in Philosophy from Yale this spring. Ratoff has also studied Cognitive Neuroscience through his masters program at University College London. In his projected future research, Ratoff plans to continue his investigation into philosophical psychology, theory of agency, and theory of practical normativity that is implied by the free energy principle, and to connect this work with outstanding problems in moral philosophy.

William Ratoff will be teaching two new Cognitive Science topics courses this upcoming academic year:

2019 Fall: COGS 26/PHIL 26: Philosophy and Computers

2020 Spring: COGS 50.02: Philosophy and Cognitive Science of Consciousness
